The lovely Half Moon Bay is located in the south eastern corner of Antigua. The pink sand stretches for almost a mile around the curved bay and it is reputably one of Antigua's finest beaches. The Atlantic surf is restrained by a coral reef which allows snorkeling close to the beach and beyond the reef windsurfers play in the rougher water.
Nearly always fairly quiet, you can find a peaceful spot away from the crowds with a cooling breeze. There are more sheltered beaches in Antigua; however, for the combination of tranquillity and the natural setting, it would be hard to beat Half Moon Bay.
The Editor understands that since our visit to Half Moon Bay the hotel on the beach has been destroyed by a hurricane. When, or if, it will be rebuilt is not known.
