The Boat House Pillars at Nelson's Dockyard, Antigua |
These pillars were part of the boat house, sail loft and wet dock built in 1797. The building was severely damaged by an earthquake in 1845 and again by a storm in 1871, which resulted in the massive building loosing it's roof. Today all that remains are the huge boat house pillars, which have been capped with concrete to preserve them against further damage by the elements.
