| Peter Island has an interesting folklore history where the famous pirate Blackbeard supposedly abandoned some of his crew to their death on Dead Chest Island. The men were washed up in Deadman's Bay which is now the main resort beach. The neighbouring Norman Island was the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island". |
