The main house on Necker Island. The Great House (second home of Sir Richard Branson) on the top of Devils Hill is situated on the highest ground on Necker Island. The Great House has eight luxury bedrooms, each one featuring it's own balcony, four poster bed and en-suite bathroom.
The Great Room within the house (above) boasts panoramic views of the Caribbean, the Atlantic and some neighbouring Virgin Islands. The Great Room is the hub of the island and a focal point for meeting up with entertainments, a snooker table and piano, etc. The Great Room is surrounded by an outdoor terrace with sofa, hammocks and a large infinity swimming pool (see photo on another page).
On the upper level of the Great House is the master suite (bottom) which features a four poster bed, outdoor Jacuzzi and a stunning outdoor bathroom with amazing views over Necker and the surrounding islands.
Construction of The Great House started in 1982 shortly after Sir Richard Branson purchased Necker Island; initially for family holidays and friends to enjoy. The house was designed in an airy Balinese style and all the materials for the construction had to be brought by boat; except for the walls of the house which were constructed from Necker stone blasted out of Devils Hill. The roof was made in Brazil, the stone flooring came from Yorkshire and much of the furniture was hand made in Bali.
