Welcome to Bequia on the Paradise Islands website. Bequia is part of St Vincent and the Grenadines and lies nine miles south of St Vincent and north west of the world famous island of Mustique. Bequia is around seven square miles making it the largest of the thirty two Grenadine Islands and it also home to the largest population of 5,000 inhabitants outside of the main island of Saint Vincent.
Bequia is a delightful island and the editor of Paradise Islands was lucky enough to explore the island whilst staying on the nearby Young Island resort. It is a peaceful easy going place with plenty of charm, fabulous beaches and scenery.

Sailing and diving are popular past times for both local and visitors alike with some of the best diving reefs in the world. Average annual temperatures vary between 24 and 32 degrees centigrade and as with most Caribbean Islands the peak tourist season is December to Easter.
Admiralty Bay is the heart of Bequia where you will find the main town of Port Elizabeth with a few shops along Front Street and the island dock for visiting ferries (known locally as "de Harbour"). Bequia is blessed with some fine white sandy beaches and coves including Princess Margaret Beach, Lower Bay, Spring Bay, Industry Bay, Moonhole and Friendship Bay. |

Travel to the island is relatively easy with daily direct flights with SVG Air (less than one hour) from Barbados Grantley Adams International Airport to Bequia's J.F. Mitchell airport (opened in 1992). Visitors can also fly to St Vincent and then take the one hour ferry to Bequia. (You can fly to St Vincent's E.T. Joshua airport from Barbados, St Lucia, Grenada and Trinidad. There are currently no direct flights to St Vincent from North America or Europe). |
Other well known Grenadine islands include Canouan, Petit St Vincent (private resort), Union Island and the Tobago Cays. |
