Welcome to Canouan on the Paradise Islands website. Canouan is part of St Vincent and the Grenadines and located roughly midway between Mustique in the north and Union Island to the south. The island is approximately five square miles and home to around 1,500 residents. The main settlement is called Charlestown Bay (also known as Grand Bay) and the island's anchorage for visiting yachts and ferries. |
Canouan was until quite recently a sleepy back water until the huge Raffles Resort opened in 2004. The resort takes over a substantial portion of the island, complete with a casino and golf course. Other hotels inc the Tamarind Beach. |
Corbay is a sheltered anchorage and a great place for snorkeling and diving. Some great beaches include Maho Bay in the north and Friendship Bay to the south.
Canouan's airport was opened in 1998 and has a quant partly thatched terminal building. Regular flights around the Grenadines link with Canouan as well as those arriving from further away including the main island of St Vincent, Barbados and Puerto Rico. |
