The main settlement is called Charlestown Bay (sometimes known as Grand Bay) and the island's main anchorage for visiting yachts and inter island ferries. Canouan's airport opened in nineteen eighty eight and regular flights around the Grenadines link with Canouan as well as those arriving from St Vincent, Barbados and Puerto Rico.
