The Calabash Tree (Latin name Crescentia cujete) comes from trumpet creeper family (Latin name Bignoniaceae) and grows widely in the Caribbean islands region / West Indies (this photo was taken by the Editor in St Vincent). the Calabash is often grown as an ornamental tree. The tree produces large spherical fruits of which the hard shells of the fruit are often used by locals for bowls water containers.
